Have you read the book “Good to Great” by Jim Collins? If not yet, it’s one of the books I most highly recommend anyone to read especially if you’re interested about business and leadership content.
How about “Best to Better” by Genesis Vargas…!? You know right, there’s no such thing yet (maybe in the future). It’s counterintuitive or backward, but this is how it goes…
Have you met a very competitive person that wants to be the best in everything like in academics, sports, career, video games, parlor games and even in karaoke? You’re smiling now because you know someone or that maybe YOU!
“Being the best is not bad, but the process and motives might be.”
Being the best academically in school doesn’t guarantee us sure success in life even winning in the most famous reality show has no assurance of fame. Ouch! reality bites, so what is important now?
I don’t have a child of my own yet but in the future if he/she shows their school grades to me, even the grades are mostly C’s and few B’s and one A. I will just ask one question “did you do your best in every subject?” If the answer is “yes,” I will still love my child and encourage our child to continue to do their best. If the answer is “no”, I will do the same because I always believe doing the best of your ability is better than being number 1 in the room and eventually it will produce greater result in the end.
BETTER is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways.
Question: What is the meaning of the word “best” for you? Don’t you think being better at what you do every day is greater than simply being the best from everyone else?
